It's a very canine Christmas!

We visited my Hal in Las Vegas this weekend to celebrate Christmas with the Roach family. It was like a dog convention...Dewey, Cody, Walter, Molly and me reveled in the festivities.

Thankful for droppings

So much to be thankful for this year...

A baby brother who always includes us in snack time.
A dad that takes us for our much anticipated walk each morning.
A mom that cuddles with us each night as we prepare for bed.
A grandma that makes us hearty breakfasts when she visits (eggs, beef, chicken, etc.).
A grandpa that always drops his food--coincidentally in the very spot where we Buggs wait.
A rawhide here, a stuffed animal there....
A couch here, a flip flop there....
Countless friends that rub our ears and bellies just so.

But most of all, thankful for Thanksgiving turkey!

I'm gonna get you

Can't a Bugg get some space! Brandon follows me all the time. He tries to follow us Buggs everywhere...out the dog door, onto the couches...and now up the stairs! It's become a game for us now. Brandon crawls up the first flight of stairs and waits for Molly and me to catch up to him. He turns around and looks down the stairs and laughs. That's our queue to charge up the stairs. Molly and I run up to the very top and wait for Brandon to catch up. Brandon is getting pretty quick too. I have a feeling we will really be in trouble when Brandon starts to walk on his own. Uh oh...

Trick or Treat (emphasis on the treat!)

As you know, I love Trick-or-Treaters. I anxiously await at the front door to get a glimpse of the kids. I wear my pumpkin shirt and I am always a hit with the neighborhood. This year, we went out with Brandon and Belen. There were some scary costumes and some cute ones too. Hopefully Brandon will leave his bag out so I can grab some treats for myself.

Taking Requests

Dear Brandon,

Molly and I really appreciate the way you always think to share your food and snacks with us. We don't even have to beg, and you oblige us with some goodies. It is convenient for us, that you prefer to eat your puffs while standing at the coffee table. Occassionally, I will jump right up and grab one for myself--if you are a little slow to offer--but usually you are right on top of things. You are always fair in your distribution. Ordinarily, it is tough for me to compete with Molly, since she is the food motivated Bugg of this bunch. But you always practice your "One for you, one for you, and one of me" approach. Perfect!

Although we are most appreciative of your tendency to share with us, I have to admit, I am getting kind of tired of mango flavored puffs, gold fish crackers, and cheerios. Are you open to taking requests? Why don't we try chunks of beef, peanut butter snacks, or shreded chicken? Maybe scrambled eggs? Hey, Buggs like chicken fried rice too. Just a gentle suggestion.
Very truly yours,

Bugsy

The People of the State of California vs. Bugsy Charlemagne Roach and Molly Ann Roach

Count 1
a violation of Penal Code section 594, subdivision (a), a FELONY, in that on or about January 2007 to October 2010, in the County of Riverside, State of California, they did willfully, unlawfully, and maliciously damage and destroy property that was not his/her own.

That's right! The destruction in our house has to risen to criminal proportions. Molly and I are facing some serious allegations so my lawyer advised me to write a formal apology, in hopes of a civil compromise in lieu of criminal sanctions.

We Buggs have destroyed the following property, not belonging to us:

  • Flip flops--both mom and dads--multiple pairs

  • Eye Glasses--3 pairs

  • Grandpa Hal's dress shoes

  • Boppy covers--3 of them

  • Baby toys--too many to count

  • Ottoman

  • Carpet

  • Couch

  • Mail--too much to count

  • Photographs

  • Magazines

  • Grass in the backyard exposing the sprinklers

  • Potted plants

  • Rugs

  • Pillows

  • Burp cloths

  • bibs

  • electrical cords

Although I submit that Molly is behind most of this destruction (see photographic evidence attached hereto), I admit that I am an occassional accomplice, or at least, an accessory after the fact. Molly and I agree to pay our fair share of kisses and cuddles in exchange for leniency.
Respectfully submitted, Bugsy Charlemagne Roach

Tag team back again...

We lick the suds off of Brandon's face during his bath...
... We clean the high chair as Brandon "eats"...

... We clear the floor of any droppings (thanks B!)...

...We clean the food right off his face...
...and THIS is the thanks we get??!!

Changes are a comin...

Hey, this is Bugsy...I'm lurking in the shadows these days because the darkness looms over me. Since my baby brother Brandon became mobile, there are so many changes that affect us Buggs:
  1. Baby gates block our ingress and egress and even though the gates are specifically designed for babies, my parents use those gates to keep us Buggs confined.
  2. We have a new dining table so baby Brandon can't hit is head on the old square, glass table. I loved that table. Often times, when Molly or I were in trouble, we would hide underneath in the middle and look up until the coast was clear. But now there is a big ole pedestal in the middle and its nearly impossible to seek refuge.
  3. Our dog bowls are always being put away because baby Brandon is obsessed with splashing around in our water. It's hot and I'm parched and sometimes I can't get to my water.
  4. We Buggs used to be able to sleep in, but baby Brandon has decided that this is an early rising household. He comes into bed and tackles me and says "da" or "usy." My parents say he is saying Bugsy. I guess I should be flattered. Yeah, I admit it, we're best friends.
  5. The doors to all the rooms are closed because baby Brandon is obsessed with opening and closing doors. Well, I used to take advantage of those opened doors by sneaking in early in the morning and peeing in the guest room when I was too lazy to go downstairs. No more...
After much reflection, I have decided that these are a welcomed sacrifice for all the good changes lately. My favorite: when baby Brandon doesn't feel like eating his food, he just pushes it off the high chair onto the floor for us Buggs. Molly and I are always a captive audience. Yum

Introducing Sir Walter

We have a new cousin in the family....Walter Stromsborg. He's a french bulldog. He has my coloring, Molly's lip flaps, and ears all his own. He came over for a playdate this weekend, while the family celebrated my brother Brandon's first birthday (hey, why weren't we Buggs included in that party?) and we had the time of our lives. Walter brought his own loofa dog and had been so good not to destroy it. Of course, after just moments in the Bugg house, we had that thing demolished. We ran around the green belt and took a dip in the pool. We played really hard. We were totally exhausted when Walter went home with his mom. I'm going to ask my mom if Walter can come over for a slumber party sometime. We can watch "Hotel for Dogs" and munch on some pupcorn. I can't wait!

No underbite..I know, disappointing!
